Popular Japanese Anime Singers Best 10 in 2018!!
Maaya Sakamoto
Maaya Sakamoto has a multi talent.
She does many activities from singer, performer to actress.
Her career is very long as her first debut was 8 as a child actor.
And she became famous when she played a part of Hitomi Kanzaki in anime “The Vision of Escaflowne” as a voice actor.
Oh, I was watching it when I was in junior or high school but did not know her at all at the time.
She also made a debut as a singer by singing opening theme of The Vision of Escaflowne in 1996.
Later, she passed audition of musical and appeared on the stage of Les Miserables.
As an actress, she also appeared on Japanese Drama.
She is active as an seiyu, actress and singer now.
For anime, she sang a theme song of “Cardcaptor Sakura”, too.
I did not know she played a part of “Rikako Ouryo” in anime “PSYCHO-PASS”.
Sorry it might be a bit miner character.
Platinum (Cardcaptor Sakura), Traiangler (Macross Frontier), Loop (Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle), Magic Number (Kobato), etc.
EGOIST
EGOIST is actually an imaginary unit.
It was an imaginary unit in anime “Guilty Crown”.
In anime, heroine “Inori” sang a song in Guilty Crown.
Even after ending of anime, they kept making music, yes, they came out of the world of anime.
In real, “Chelly” was selected as the vocal.
She passed the audition among over 2000 applicants.
So far, no information about Chelly.
No one knows her face.
But she uploads her drawings on Twitter and it is actually great.
Looks like she has a talent of drawing as well.
EGOIST sing a song of other anime such as “PSYCHO-PASS”, “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress”, “Fate/Apocrypha” as well as Guilty Crown.
Euterpe (Guilty Crown), Eiyu Unmei no Uta (Fate/Apocrypha), Namaenonai Kaibutsu (PSYCHO-PASS), KABANERI OF THE IRON FORTRESS (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress), etc.
Konomi Suzuki
Konomi Suzuki started to learn dancing and singing to get over reserved and shy character of her when she was a child.
And in 2008, she decided to become anime singer when she was recommended to watch “Macross Frontier” by her friend.
In 2010, she got a grand prix at 14th ORC 200 Vocal Queen Contest.
In 2011, she won a grand prix at Japan Anison (Anime Song) Grand Prix held by AniMax.
Winning the prizes made her famous.
In 2012, She made a debut by singing opening theme of “Dusk Maiden of Amnesia”.
This was the real start of her career as an anime singer.
She went to university before but to focus on her job of singer she took a leave of absence and came to Tokyo in 2016.
One of the young anime singers whose future is greatly expected.
Redo (Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World), Chaos Syndrome (CHAOS; CHILD), CHOIR JAIL (Dusk Maiden of Amnesia), etc.
Kalafina
Kalafina is a unit group made of 3 singers.
“Wakana”, “Keiko” and “Hikaru” are the singers.
Kalafina was created to make a theme song of anime film of “Kara no Kyokai (The Garden of Sinners)”.
But Keiko seceded this 2018.
Sadly Kalafina of 3 girls became the thing in the past.
It is said that the retirement of producer “Yuki Kajiura”, who took care Kalafina, from an agency (Space Craft Produce) was the main reason.
Looks like there was a complex business issues between Yuki Kajiura and agency that she had to leave.
I do not know what will it be for them from now on.
But each of them will step forward without stopping.
oblivious (Kara no Kyokai), Kimi no Gin no Niwa (Puella Magi Madoka Magica), One Light (The Heroic Legend of Arslan), ring your bell (Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]), believe (Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]), heavenly blue (Aldnoah.Zero)
ClariS
ClariS was first making their music as “Alice☆Kurara”.
That was music unit and Kurara asked Alice to make the unit first.
It was in around 2009 and they were uploading videos of anime song or cover of music of vocaloid.
Within 6 months from the start of the activity, they caught attention of assistant editor-in-chief of anime song music magazine Lisani.
Their original music CD attached to the magazine and sold.
They were still in junior high and did not show their faces that attracted anime fans much more.
They made a debut singing a theme song of “Ore no Imoto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai” in 2010.
And changed the name from Alice☆Kurara to ClariS.
So they took their places in the spotlight within a year since the start of their activity.
This was unusually quick ascension in music world.
In 2011, they sang a song of “Puella Magi Madoka Magica”.
Now I remember the song!
I was watching anime of Madoka Magica and still remember the song.
I didn’t know the song was by ClariS.
But in 2014, Alice seceded from ClariS, people say Alice decided to take a different route after graduation of high school.
Still ClariS did not finish there as new member Karen joined.
Looked like Karen had often been with and helped Kurara who practiced singing alone.
They showed their faces in 2017.
It might imply they restart ClariS by showing their real faces from now on.
Irony ( Ore no Imoto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai), Connect (Puella Magi Madoka Magica), Hitorigoto (Eromanga Sensei), PRIMALove (BEATLESS), Clear Sky (Nisekoi), etc.
Summary
Song of anime is very important.
I think many of you remember school days when you listen to certain songs.
Song of anime is like that.
When I listen to a certain song that reminds me of a certain anime.
I can picture the anime clearly.
It is very hard to become singer of anime as well as seiyu.
Because anime is very popular in Japan and many young people wish to be.
So there are professional schools for anime to help them realize their dreams.
I recommend you to watch “Shirobako” as it is anime for anime, that is, you are able to know how real anime is made through anime.
Anime industry and music keep changing and I’m looking forward to the future of anime!!
