Top 3 Japanese Animes that make you cry on Netflix

I rarely cry, even when watching movies or animes that make many people cry.
Still, there were a few animes that made me almost cry.
This is my selection that I think there are more animes that make you cry.
But I highly recommend following animes on Netflix if you haven’t watched them yet.
※ The following article contains spoilers, so if you don’t want to be spoiled, I recommend you watch all the animes before reading this article.
Your Lie in April
If you like music, I highly recommend this Your Lie in April.
It was such a beautiful anime with such a sad ending.
I know many people cried after watching this anime.
Both story and animation were beautiful.
I felt and learned what professionalism is from those junior high school students.
I remember Heroin Kaori said “we’re all afraid to get up on stage. Maybe you’ll mess up. Maybe they’ll totally reject you. Even so, you grit your teeth and get up on stage anyway. something compels us…moves us to play music”.
She told this word to the main character Kousei who was afraid of performing on the stage.
Her words melted hearts of Kousei and he started to play the piano again which he once gave up.

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
Many of us have memories playing tags, playing in the river, making secret base with friends when we were little.
But we might also have a big regret which separated us forever.
Main charter and his friends shared childhood memories and regrets as well.
A girl Menma who was their friend and died suddenly appear again in front of them.
She and her friends did not know why she is there.
They were already high school students and walking very different paths right now.
But try to get together again like the days they were child.
As story goes on, they start to tell their true feelings which was not covered in white lies anymore.
They’ve ignored, been hiding their true feelings so that they wouldn’t get hurt but finally open their hearts each others.
The reason Menma came back was revealed, she started disappearing.
And when she finally left them there were flowers.
They were forget-me-not.
The flower language “True love”, “True relationship”.
I felt nostalgic as I did same kind of things in my childhood.
Plus, the set was Saitama and I’m from Saitama that made me feel the nostalgy more.
As we grow older, we start walking different paths and stop playing with our childhood friends.
In their cases, they had a big regret.
And Menma suddenly appears.
I felt the flower bloomed on the ground Menma left reflected the reason she came back.

A Silent Voice
Bullying is bad and should be condemned.
This is not an anime which claims such a superficial part.
You might think the theme is bullying but I thought the real theme is communication.
We sometimes think we could understand others.
But I wonder if we could really understand and listen to what they really want to say.
Voice we hear or listen is not everything.
What we really need to listen to is “silent voice”.
You might feel some characters are very bad but I felt those also reflect part of us more or less.
And they are actually not all bad.
If you finish saying bullying is bad thing you can’t get the core part.
Actually, this A Silent Voice became controversial when it was first released in Japan.
I understand it as this anime was not like white is white and black is black, not like hero is always justice and villain is always injustice.
Deeper part this anime dived.
I was moved when the main character could start to listen to others voice again, listen to even bad names fair and square without fear.

Summary
I know there are other great animes that have crying scenes such as Attack on Titan, Grave of the Fireflies, Code Geass, CLANNAD, Madoka Magica, etc.
They are also great animes but I picked up above 3 animes this time, anyway.
These animes are not only making you cry but also telling you many important things.
If you have time and chance, I highly recommend you to watch them!
